The lifespan of clothing

We started with high-quality clothing with a long lifespan. All Plain Cotton clothing has a long lifespan. We want to compete with the large fast fashion chains. You can buy clothes there very cheaply, but you soon have to buy new clothes because they break. That is bad for your wallet but also bad for the world. That is why we are committed to a long lifespan for our clothing. This means less needs to be produced and less to be thrown away. In short, good for the world, good for your wallet

A longer lifespan for clothing alone does not go far enough for us.

Our favorite sustainable materials

To make our clothing even more sustainable, we have increasingly started using organic cotton and recycled materials.

Organic cotton is cotton that is grown with less negative impact on the environment. No pesticides or chemicals are used. In addition to organic cotton, we are also increasingly using recycled materials. This means that fewer raw materials are lost, which also means that fewer raw materials need to be produced. In other words, we further reduce the polluting production of clothing.

Planting trees

Our mission for sustainability goes beyond just clothing. We also want to make a positive impact in other ways. That's why we plant a tree for every order.

Of course, we are far from there yet. We are proud of the progress we have already made, but we want to continue developing and becoming more sustainable. That is why you can always contact us with tips and feedback. Together we make the world better.

Fair Wear Foundation

The Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is an independent organization that works closely with clothing brands, garment workers and influencers within the textile industry to improve working conditions in clothing factories. FWF regularly audits our partner factories and takes corrective action where necessary by developing Action Plans (CAPs) to ensure that workers retain their rights and can perform safe, dignified and fairly paid work.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the leading global standard for the production of organic fibers. It is based on strict ecological and social criteria and is considered the most stringent certification for organic cotton.

The standard ensures that cotton is grown organically, without the use of genetically modified seeds or harmful chemicals. Furthermore, it ensures full traceability from the harvest of the raw materials to the final user, including transaction certificates at every stage of production.

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is an international voluntary standard that checks for the presence and amount of organic material in a final product. It follows the journey of raw materials, from the source to the end product.

'PETA-Approved' means we do not conduct or allow animal testing on ingredients, formulas or finished products, and we declare that we never will. Our products are made from 100% vegan materials and contain no animal fibers, so we do not harm animals.

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is one of the most recognized standards worldwide for assessing harmful substances in fabrics. This certification confirms that the products are processed without the use of chemicals that are harmful to both human health and the environment. The Standard 100 also bans specific potentially harmful substances, even if they are not yet legally prohibited, and ensures that our products comply with the EU REACH regulation.

Plain Cotton itself does not (yet) have any quality marks.

We purchase our clothing from manufacturers who have these quality marks, they have given us permission to use the quality marks on the products that come from their factory.
